We believe that creativity is a crucial mechanism to understand the complexity of the world around us. Unfortunately many people believe they are not equipped with the technical or conceptual skills required to produce a creative project. We challenge this misconception by constructing our learning and teaching content to ensure that all our participants can successfully engage with an empowering process of learning, making and sharing. This transforms their understanding of creative practice, and gives them greater agency as visual communicators.
NowHere operates as a creative platform to investigate themes of Place and Identity through photography, design, self-publishing, exhibitions and events. We empower participants through a range of talks, workshops and creative challenges, designed to engage learners regardless of prior expertise or technical ability. Our inspiring teaching content is produced by practitioners working across the disciplines of design, photography and education.
We are always interested in new opportunities to develop and initiate projects; particularly with individuals / communities who may lack formal access to education.
Through a series of creative collaborative challenges, participants are encouraged to act as photographer + designer + editor + curator. Prior experience in photography or design is not a pre-requisite.
We run a varied series of talks, workshops, and creative challenges, where participants work alongside and learn directly from photographers and designers, and their diverse approaches to creative practice.
Participants initiate various projects exploring themes of Place and Identity, gaining confidence in photographic practice, visual communication and critical theory.
Participants produce a final photographic project; showcasing their images within print and digital publications, a website and social media platform, and curating the best work into a group exhibition; making a crucial connection with audiences and creating opportunities for the future.
